Eye Full of Diamonds - By Eileen Mars (Freshman, RFH)
This work is a magazine collage. You can see that the magazine’s spine lays in the absolute center of the artwork, and the pages going down and up were cut one ad at a time. Not only does this work show how the Advertisement industry is constantly watching it’s consumers for feedback, but how the world of consumerism plays a role in our everyday lives, even when we’re don’t realize it. Producers and consumers could not live without each other.
Fried, Scrambled, Infected - By George Beilson (Sophomore, RBR)
This piece is a newspaper collage, with clippings taken mostly from headlines of the New York Times. Though these titles refer to specific stories, when combined, seemingly at random, they convey a different meaning. It shows how Americans are always searching for an answer, and even if it’s given and tangled with lies, we’ll greedily accept it and move on; hungry for more. The cars, smog, and buildings show our hurried lifestyle, and the upsidedown/sideways text conveys that some spend little time searching for the details if what’s presented to them seems relatively plausible.
Versailles - By Conner Duke (Junior, Monmouth Regional)
This photograph was taken during my trip to France. My family spent 3 weeks there, travelling around the country. My favorite part of our journey was the Chateau de Versailles. The architecture of the palace and the design of the palace inspired me. I liked the contrast between the unified, strategically built castle and the elaborate, chaotic but seamlessly designed gardens. It shows that there is always chaos in beauty, but there is also always order in chaos.
Fading Perspectives - Meredith Joshi (Senior, Communications)
This photograph was taken in Princeton, New Jersey on my film camera, a Pentax ME Super. My sister and I spent the day exploring Princeton University’s campus. I kept my camera in hand and paid close attention to the buildings themselves. Mostly, the architecture was classic, dating back to 1746 when the school was founded. Though these buildings were beautiful, I was drawn to the lines and precise nature of this building in particular. It stood out from the rest and inspired me with the exactness of it’s mirror image.
